Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
|
One of the most gratifying benefits of your Mensa membership is participation in a national special interest group, through which you can correspond with members everywhere who share your interests. Many SIGs also communicate through newsletters and online.
if you are unable to locate a service you feel might be offered or if there is no existing SIG for one of your interests and you wish to help initiate such a group or service, contact the SIGs Officer.

Notice to members regarding special interest groups: American Mensa, Ltd.,("MENSA") encourages members to join together in pursuit of special interests and, to this end, acts as the facilitator and clearinghouse for SIG activities. Any Mensa member who wishes to establish a SIG may apply to the SIGs Officer and have the SIG be included in the SIG list published semiannually in the Mensa Bulletin and on the Mensa Web site upon acceptance. SIGs that fail minimum requirements, which include providing Mensa with brief semiannual reports regarding SIG membership and activities, are dropped from the list. Members are advised, however, that Mensa is unable to guarantee the information it receives concerning SIGs, and the SIGs are voluntary associations of Mensa members that operate independently of Mensa. Mensa does not exercise control over the finances or activities of SIGs, and no SIG or SIG coordinator is authorized to bind Mensa or to act in any way on Mensa's behalf. For these reasons, Mensa is not responsible for actions taken by or on behalf of SIGs, nor for their financial liabilities. Mensa has no control over SIG Web sites and is not responsible for the content or the performance of these sites. Opinions expressed on SIG Web sites are those of the individual contributors to the site and are not endorsed by any official Mensa body, for Mensa holds no opinions beyond its broadly stated constitutional aims.
